ALUMNI PROFILE

Isaac Ackman

Graduated: 2007

Current Role: Pilot

Did you always aspire to be in the job position you currently hold?

No - In years 11 & 12 I either wanted to be a Stockbroker or an Investment Banker although however, I had an interest and passion for aviation since I was 3 years old but it was more of a pipe dream than an actual career choice.

What have you done since leaving CTHS?

Since leaving CTHS I studied Economics and Business at University. During my time at uni I was fortunate enough to get myself a casual role in a small Accounting Practice in which I stayed there for 3 years. Although this wasn't the ultimate goal it taught me how to interact in a corporate environment and taught me work ethic. I then moved on to a Boutique Investment Bank for a short period of time and then in 2011 I moved to a larger Investment Bank in which I stayed for 3 years working in Financial Markets and then into the Private Bank Sector. By the end of 2013 I had resigned and decided I wanted to pursue a career as a Pilot. I obtained my Commercial Pilots Licence in 2015 along with other operating licences.

Describe your average work day....

On a typical flying day it involves teaching student pilots in line with training syllabi. We conduct theory briefings on the ground prior to our flights. Flights may involve navigational exercises or general handling on specific aircraft types.
